What is Character Development?
What it is:
Character Development is about learning and strengthening core values such as kindness, honesty, integrity, accountability, teamwork, courage, respect, curiosity, and more! Our programs are designed to foster growth in classic core values like students learn at home. Each lesson is created so that when a student graduates, they are prepared for the real world.
Key components of character development in schools include:
Self-awareness & Emotional Regulation – Helping students recognize and manage their emotions effectively.
Moral Reasoning & Decision-Making – Encouraging students to think critically about ethical dilemmas and make responsible choices.
Engagement with Role Models – Learning from teachers, peers, and historical figures who exemplify strong character.
Community Involvement & Service Learning – Applying character traits in real-world situations through acts of kindness and civic responsibility.
What it is NOT:
Not about Just Feelings
Some people may perceive Character Development programs as groups of students just sitting around talking about their feelings all day. It is not. Our programs help students prepare for the real world and their first jobs by building the conflict management, problem-solving, and positive decision-making skills employers look for.
Not Therapy or Counseling
While Character Development Programs focus on positive life skills, it is not the same as therapy or counseling. Instead, it is a proactive way to promote positive skills development for long term success.
